M.L. King Day events will make most of the news today, but note another event about social justice — a rally in North Little Rock calling for an end to Donald Trump’s government shutdown.

The Arkansas AFL-CIO announced a rally at 1 p.m. at 1003 W. 33rd North Little Rock  the American Federation of Government Employees office, to support some 13,000 federal employees in Arkansas who are going without pay in a shutdown now nearly four weeks old.

The news release notes that federal employees work for the benefit of the country in ways important to health, safety and economy.

I’m guessing the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would have been on the side of federal workers today.
