Open line: Plus Eric Musselman hired to coach Arkansas basketball

The open line includes the announcement that Eric Musselman, who had been coach at Nevada (Reno), is the next head basketball coach at the University of Arkansas.

Here’s the UA release. He has a five-year deal for $2.5 million a year, with various bonuses ($500,000 for a national title). Severance is 70 percent of remaining pay on contract. Mike Anderson was making $2.55 million when he was fired after eight years.

 Hog Athletic Director Yuracheck Tweeted a photo of Musselman family — his wife Danyelle Sargent, who’s been a TV sports reporter, a daughter and two sons.
