A round of appointments by Gov. Asa Hutchinson yesterday included the filling of two judicial vacancies and new members for university boards.
He filled two vacancies in circuit judgeships. Both appointees will serve for a year and may not run in the election for the seats:
- Keith Crestman of Jonesboro was appointed to a seat in the Second Judicial District to replace Judge John Fogleman, who retired.
- Rob Ratton of Newport was named in the Third District to complete the term of the late Judge Tom Garner, in Position 3. Ratton is unopposed for election to Position 1 on the court in this year’s election.
Among other appointments, Hutchinson also named Curtis Barnett to a seat on the University of Central Arkansas Board of Trustees for a seven-year term replacing Shelia Vaught and Len Cotton to a five-year term on the board of Arkansas Tech University, succeeding Fritz Kronberg. Cotton is the father of U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton.
