On March 18, Random House will release “The View from the Seventh Layer,” the latest story collection from Little Rock author Kevin Brockmeier. The book includes “The Human Soul as a Rube Goldberg Device,” an homage to the choose-your-own-adventure novels, and “Father John Melby and the Ghost of Amy Elizabeth,” a story about a pastor touched by a spirit that transforms his formerly dull sermons into crowd pleasers.
Down the road: Toby Press will put out Donald Harington’s latest novel, “Farther Along,” in May. The book follows a chief curator of a museum who, with the help of a book on the life and culture of a vanished tribe of Indians knows as Bluff-dwellers, leaves his job and society to live in the wilderness of the Ozark mountains.
Lorenzen and Co. Booksellers, the venerable Little Rock used bookstore, is having a going out of business sale. All stock is 20 percent off. The store is on the back side of the Tanglewood shopping center, at 7509 Cantrell Road.
