The state of the state

Gov. Mike Huckabee addressed the state of the state at a joint session of the General Assembly on Tuesday, Jan. 11. Following the speech, his staff released a letter to legislators and a lengthy legislative agenda. Huckabee, as might be expected, painted a generally positive view of Arkansas, but said much work needed to be done. He avoided specific recommendations on money, but he had several in the area of higher education and recommended consolidation of the Health Department into the state Department of Human Services.
