BDS: A band and a dude.
Formed: 2004
From: Fayetteville
Members: In addition to Del Shreve, there’s Kurt Currie, Olivia Apple, Jonthan Holder and Jeremy Ervin.
Albums: His latest full-length is “Brilliant and Charming,”self-released last year in Nov. Previously: “Enjoy Me While I’m Here” in 2001.
Sounds like: Rock — indie rock, modern rock, G’n’R ballad rock, freak-folk rock, rawk rock.
A foundation: In the early part of the decade, Del Shreve, who’s originally from Hatfield, sang lead in GS Megaphone, a popular Christian hard rock act. After the band dissolved, Del Shreve started writing songs in transit — Key West, France, New York City — for what became “Brilliant and Charming.”
Bio bit: His songwriting is a constant wrestling match between the lover and the poet, and the asskicker. Songs like “Flower Gazer” explains how everyone has two shoulders, one’s for people to cry on while the other one has a chip on it. “Cause there’s a time to make love I know but I know that there’s a time to just kick some ass”!
Where you’ll find him: You can catch him again on Saturday at Maxine’s in Hot Springs. Otherwise, he’s got a string of gigs in NWA and Oklahoma coming up.
