The Arkansas Arts Council opens its year-long traveling competitive “Small Works on Paper” exhibition on Friday, Jan. 9, in Pine Bluff, at the Arts & Science Center of Southeast Arkansas.
Juror Mary Kennedy, CEO of the Mid-America Arts Alliance, chose works — none larger than 24 by 24 inches — by 39 artists for the 27th annual show and selected 10 artists for purchase awards: Cindy Arsaga and Cindy Wiseman of Fayetteville, Claire Cade of Arkadelphia; Houston Fryer and Richard Stephens of Hot Springs; Lisa Kindrick and Miranda Young of Little Rock; Tom Richard of Monticello; Carrie Waller of Cabot and Cathy Wester of Conway. Their work will become part of the permanent “Works on Paper” collection.
The Arts & Science Center, at 701 Main St., will host a public reception and artist talks from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. The arts center is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday.
The show opens at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville on Feb. 3. See the tour schedule and artists roster here.
