An unusual portrait by Michael Warrick.

The Butler Center opens a new exhibit Friday, Jan. 10, for 2nd Friday Art Night: “Unusual Portraits: New Works by Michael Warrick and David O’Brien.” Warrick is a sculptor; O’Brien, a recent graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock who already has quite an exhibition vita, works in two dimensions. The exhibit, which includes works in wood, wax, bronze, and other materials, runs through March 22.

2nd Friday runs 5-8 p.m. Das Loop will provide music at the gallery, in the Arkansas Studies Institute at 401 President Clinton Ave. Jacquelyn Kaucher is the featured artist in the retail gallery Friday. 


Also on exhibit in the Butler Center galleries: “Reflections in Pastel,” through Feb. 22, main gallery, a great show I need to review here, and “Native Arkansas,” early Arkansas through the writings of early explorers and Native American artifacts, including Mississippian period, Caddoan and Carden Bottoms objects, Concordia Hall, through Feb. 22.
