The monumental Rogers, Ark. music venue formerly known as the Arkansas Music Pavilion and recently renamed the Walmart AMP (or Walmart, for short), has a truly impressive and expensive lineup scheduled for the upcoming Fall, and they’re adding more dates all the time. It’s hard to keep up, so in the spirit of service journalism, here is a quick primer on some of the famous people you can very soon enjoy there:
*Generational touchstone, iconic comedian and successful actor Steve Martin will play bluegrass on August 3, $69-$89.
*Incomparably famous country star Tim McGraw, husband of Faith Hill, will be there on August 7, SOLD OUT.
*Late 70s arena rock juggernauts and “More Than A Feeling” auteurs Boston (cited in their press release for “remarkable musicianship” and an “out-of-this-world sound”) will be there on August 15, $24-$79.
*Legendary stoner comedy odd couple Cheech and Chong, best remembered for the high-octane buddy comedies we sometimes watch parts of on TV, will improbably perform alongside War, the excellent and oft-parodied rock fusion group known for “Low Rider” and “Spill The Wine,” $49-$69.
*”Guitar Hero” and jock-rock radio-certified multi-platinum rock group Foreigner (“Feels Like The First Time”) will be there on August 29, led by founding lead guitarist Mick Jones (press release: “the visionary maestro”), $43.50-$53.50
*Woodstock veteran, baby boomer cause célèbre, notorious guitar solo grandstander and recent Pitbull collaborator Santana will perform on October 5, $39-$129.
