Angela Davis Johnson will show new work Friday at the Thea Foundation, 401 Main St. in North Little Rock, as part of the foundation’s TheArtDepartment series of emerging artists. A reception from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday will include music by the Funkanites, heavy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments; tickets are $10.
The show, “The Wondrous Possibilities of Falling and Flying,” Johnson says, “explores the idea of what liberation can look like after perceived failure, whether societal or personal” and will be based on the mural she recently painted, “The Gathering/Flying Free,” on The House of Art in Argenta, 108 E. Fourth St.
Johnson, who lives in Atlanta but is back in Little Rock often, is more than an emerging artist: She has fully emerged from her chrysalis and is flying.
