"Alter Ego," by Selma Blackburn, is in the Mid-Southern Watercolorists exhibition at HAM.

The Mid-Southern Watercolorists’ annual juried show, musician Charlotte Taylor and beer by Stone’s Throw are all on tap Friday at the Historic Arkansas Museum (2nd and Cumberland streets) for the 2nd Friday Night downtown art fling (5-8 p.m. April 12). The show features 33 works selected from 159 entries by Santa Cruz artist Michael Bailey. Arkansas watercolorists with work in the show include Selma Blackburn, Catherine Caldwell, L.S. Eldridge, B. Jeannie Fry, Susan Gibson, Gary Johnson, Cheryl Kellar, Ronald Kincaid, Jeannie Knod-Edwards, Sandra Marson, Glenda McCune, Charlotte Rierson, Maureen Rousseau, Cynthia Schanink, Gary Simmons, Cary Smith, Richard Stephens, Luanne Stone, Donna Twyford and Beth Woessner. Award winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m. The show runs through July 7.

Bella Vita Jewelry will start the 2nd Friday party early, at 4 p.m., at its new spot in Matt McLeod’s former gallery at 108 W. Sixth St. (McLeod has moved to 319 President Clinton, in the old Gusano’s Pizza space.) Besides jewelry, Cocoa Belle Chocolates will have a case.

“Au Pair Don’t Care,” works by Amily Miori, go up at Gallery 221 at Second and Louisiana streets, and the gallery will feature other works from its regular stable of artists. The Gino Hollander Gallery, the Collectors Gallery and the Comic Book Nook will be open on the second floor.

The Galleries at Library Square, a.k.a. the Butler Center, continues its exhibitions “Part to Whole: The Making of Art, the Artist, and the Artist Group”; “Paintings by Charlie James: Back to the Garden”; and “Made in America: Vintage Film Posters from the Ron Robinson Collection.”

Christ Episcopal Church
(Fifth and Scott streets) will open two exhibits Friday: “Chaos,” blown glass by James Hayes, and “Mystical Menagerie,” paintings by Jacqui Whitehead.

Last but first among many Arkansans: The “Cheese Dip Extravaganza,” at the Old State House Museum. Blue Coast Burrito, Heights Taco and Tamales, Lost Forty and Capital Bar and Grill will provide the queso; Core of Arkansas is supplying suds; the Salty Dogs are providing music.
