Little Rock’s Isaac Alexander has lent his talent to countless local projects (The Screaming Mimes, Big Silver, The Easys, The Eulogy Brothers and The Boondogs), but for the first time in nearly six years, he’s dropped not one, but two solo albums entitled “Future Sanctuary 1” and “Future Sanctuary 2.” They came out via Max Recordings at the turn of the new year.

The pair of records, which share complementary artwork and were made in collaboration with Jason Weinheimer at Fellowship Hall Sound, are full of catchy, incisive folk rock that isn’t afraid to introspect. During early listening sessions to the 24 (!) songs, “Covering Tracks” rises to top as a personal favorite. What starts out as a fairly traditional shuffle gets complicated by a melancholic, tremolo’d guitar riff that creeps into the right headphone and changes the mood entirely. It’s a wonder what Alexander can do with so little.

His last solo offering, “Like A Sinking Stone,” was released in 2017.
