More than 150,000 have gained coverage under private option; DHS releases demographic information

Through March 31, 155,567 Arkansans have been deemed eligible and gained coverage under the private option, the state's unique plan which uses Medicaid funds to purchase private health insurance for low-income Arkansans. The Department of Human Services announced the latest enrollment figures today and also released some demographic information on enrollees, which continue to lean female and younger.

I wasn't at yesterday's Joint Public Health meeting at the Capitol, which reviewed the ongoing implementation of the "private option" policy for Medicaid expansion, but I gather that it was an occasion for repetitive concern trolling from anti-"private option" legislators over the auto-assignment rules created by the Department of Human Services.

More than 50,000 Arkansans have enrolled in the "private option" for Medicaid expansion

After two weeks of enrollment, the Arkansas Department of Human Services announced today that 56,288 adults have informed DHS that they with to enroll in the "private option" program; nearly all of them are now enrolled.
