Heaven McKinney, owner of The Grind Coffee Bistro, celebrated the grand opening of her new location at Arkansas Baptist College with members of the community, university officials and city leaders on Tuesday. 

A partnership between Arkansas Baptist College and ReMix Ideas brings three Black-owned restaurants to the university's student union: Elnora Wesley's H.O.M.E Vegan Restaurant, Heaven McKinney's The Grind Coffee Bistro, and Corey Nelson's Chicago Flamin Grill.

H.O.M.E. Vegan Restaurant — formerly known as The House of Mental Eatery — is Elnora Wesley’s vegan “grandma-style” soul food restaurant. It's moving from its modest digs in the back of a small building on South Chester Street to a food court at Arkansas Baptist College.

The Rock It! Lab is the latest iteration of Lubazibwa's work — a collaboration between his nonprofit and the Central Arkansas Library System born out of a strategy session in early 2019 and envisioned as “a launch pad for people’s ideas and dreams.”

Season one focuses on a fashion designer, an entrepreneur, a poet, a multi-multifaceted artist, art activists and a vegan chef, PBS' press release states, "pulling back the curtain on their creative processes and seeing what makes them glow."

ReMix Ideas’ online shopping event, Shop Black Live, goes live every weekend on Facebook, giving you a chance to acquaint yourself with the work of Black creators and entrepreneurs in Central Arkansas and elsewhere in the state.
