You won't need a license to make a purchase at "The Gun Show" coming to Drawl Gallery in the Heights. Drawl owner Guy Bell and the Oxford American magazine are teaming up to present an exhibition in which artists, writers and scholars answer the question, "What does the visual presence of guns suggest to you?"
Drawl, the newish gallery opened by artist Guy Bell, is hosting an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. tonight for the opening of "The Flatlander: Depictions of the Delta," work by Lepanto artist Norwood Creech. Bell describes Creech as an "agricultural artist" for her wide horizon paintings and drawings of Delta farmland.
Artist Guy Bell has been dropping hints on Facebook that a new gallery is coming to Kavanaugh Boulevard in the Heights. Here's a little more: Bell and Louis France, owner of Reno's Argenta Cafe, will open a contemporary Southern art gallery mid-summer. Bell says it will include high-end consigned work from the early 20th century, primarily WPA and Ashcan School work.
