The Bradbury Art Museum at Arkansas State University's fall exhibition season that opens Aug. 30 includes "Vivid Life," an exhibition of works by the late Roger Carlisle, a member of the university's art faculty for 40 years. Carlisle, the recipient of several awards, is known for his colorful landscapes; "Vivid Life" covers several decades of his work.
George Dombek, who judged this year's "Delta Exhibition," is a celebrated watercolorist known for his neat, linear, objective work. That might explain the preponderance of inkjet images and watercolors in this year's exhibition, which opened last and runs through Sept. 20 in the Townsend Wolfe and Jeannette Rockefeller galleries.
John Salvest, a conceptual artist from Jonesboro known for installations that provide commentary on politics and society, will give the "Spotlight Lecture" tonight, Nov. 7, at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, where Salvest's work is on display in the "State of the Art: Discovering American Art Now" exhibition.
"State of the Art" coming to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in September will feature more than 200 works by 102 artists selected by museum President Don Bacigalupi and assistant curator Chad Alligood, including work by painter Guy Bell, ceramicist Linda Lopez, printmaker Delita Martin and conceptual artist John Salvest, all of Arkansas.
