The project would narrow Markham Street to three lanes for several blocks heading west of the intersection with Kavanaugh Boulevard and add sidewalks to either side of the street.
A crew in Little Rock is prepped and ready to clear the roads if snow falls this weekend. A number of cities have already announced warming shelters will open.
Several city employees met with residents concerned about what they described as congested and dangerous traffic on Kanis Road. The group talked of a potential $30 million expansion to bring a section of the road to five lanes.
Victims of the March 31 storm are still picking up the pieces. By the end of September, homeowners and businesses in Pulaski County had filed about $418 million in tornado-related claims, with nearly $311 million paid out to policyholders.
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. gave the tornado run-down to the Little Rock Board of Directors and other city officials Monday. Updates from Public Works, the LRPD and the LRFD were also included in the briefing. Officials asked folks to stay off the streets if they can, and sign up if they want to volunteer.
