Board of directors updated on 3/8 cent sales tax, promised specifics on Lift Little Rock penny sales tax

The Little Rock Board of Directors received an update from City Finance Director Sara Lenehan on the “promises kept” by the 3/8 Cent Capital Sales Tax. Mayor Frank Scott Jr. also told directors that on March 10, he will present “specific numbers” to the board on how the proposed “Lift Little Rock” sales tax would impact city departments and projects.

Collection of Crittenden County sales tax to fund now-bankrupt hospital enjoined

The Department of Finance and Administration yesterday announced that a sales tax enacted by voters in Crittenden County for “repairing, improving, renovating, equipping, operating and maintaining” Crittenden Regional Hospital will not be collected. CRH closed and filed for bankruptcy last month. The Crittenden County Circuit Court last Friday issued an order enjoining collection of the one percent county-wide sales tax.

Penny in our thoughts

Members of the committee that will oversee the expenditure of Little Rock's new penny sales tax haven't been named (though I've got a question in to City Manager Bruce Moore about the nominees) but the committee does have its own logo and name: CENT, Citizen Evaluation of New Tax.
