Trucks momentarily clogged the streets this morning to protest House Bill 1563. The measure would likely chop into their profits by prohibiting these companies from holding on to any cargo they've hauled as leverage to collect what's owed.

Little Rock mayor announces 8 p.m. curfew

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. announced an 8 p.m. curfew for the city Tuesday, a day after instituting one for 10 p.m. Scott said the decision was made after receiving "critical information," which Little Rock Police Chief Keith Humphrey later described as "pretty credible intelligence that leaders in Central Arkansas have been targeted for attacks against their lives."

Students rally at LR Central High in support of DACA recipients

Little Rock Central High School students held a pre-class protest this morning at the corner of Park Street and Daisy Bates in support of classmates who benefited from the Obama  Administration's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. DACA shields undocumented immigrants brought to the country prior to their 16th birthday, and allows them to have work permits. On Tuesday, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the federal government would stop considering new DACA applications, and the program would be suspended entirely in six months, opening up almost 800,000 DACA recipients for deportation.

Actor George Takei takes on Trump

Actor George Takei, whose family was incarcerated in a Japanese internment camp in Rohwer, Ark. (Desha County) during World War II, took to Twitter today in response to Donald Trump's earlier Tweet in which the president-elect  said those who burn the American flag should "perhaps" lose their citizenship or be jailed. No matter what side of the fence you're on, Takei's 27 little words should ring in the heart of every patriotic American who cares about the First Amendment.

Hundreds of people turned out at the Arkansas Capitol Monday for a vigil sponsored by the Arkansas Black Legislative Caucus as a response to the verdict in the Trayvon Martin case.

Walmart workers protest in Bentonville during shareholders week

About 200 people, many of them Walmart employees, marched from the Bentonville town square to Alice Walton's Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art yesterday to protest the labor policies of the discount giant during the company's annual shareholders meeting, which drew over 14,000 people to town this year.
